Simon Buchen practices predominantly in the criminal law and related areas, including defending and prosecuting serious indictable matters across the full range of Commonwealth and State offences. He regularly appears in summary hearings, jury trials and appeal hearings. Simon Buchen has a special interest in complex federal criminal cases, including Corporations Act and serious taxation fraud offences. He appears in proceedings for environmental and industrial offences in the Land and Environment Court and elsewhere.
Simon Buchen conducts appellate work in the High Court, Court of Criminal Appeal and District Court.
He also appears in commissions of inquiry and inquests, including as counsel assisting the Coroner. Simon Buchen is a member of a professional conduct committee of the NSW Bar Association.
